Baby Dorge
October 2020
Four short weeks until the newest member of Dorge HQ arrives.
It’s certainly been a journey navigating this pregnancy during all that is a global pandemic, but our health and happiness have remained intact. I’m writing this to look back someday and remember the moments that have made up my first pregnancy. I found out I was pregnant on March 6th with a positive pregnancy test and confirmed it at the doctor’s the day after. Keeping a little secret to myself I finally told Clayton around midnight after returning from an early feature film of True False Film festival! We were overjoyed.
That weekend, my mom and aunt were in town visiting and we spent the weekend playing cards, riding electric bikes (if you haven’t done this yet, it’s so much fun), and navigating the streets of True False. Talks of Coronavirus were mere murmurs. Clayton and I kept our little secret close to the chest until Clayton’s 30th birthday when we decided to share the news with our parents and siblings. Memories we will forever remember!
I spent most of the first trimester in quarantine as the virus ramped up across the globe. The positive was being able to sleep in, live in sweats, and hide any tiredness behind my computer screen. The negative was the steady low-grade stress of the what-ifs, what does this mean for pregnant women and the appointments that didn’t allow Clayton to come with me. Despite it all, I’m thankful that I didn’t experience any nasty symptoms!
We were showered with love from family and friends in creative ways through virtual showers and amazing ‘mail days’. Most recently my sweet friend Megan aka Mash came into town while Clayton and Kyle did a pre-baby brother trip in Colorado.
Having Mash here was the greatest thing. She unpacked all baby gifts, washed clothes, hung pictures, art directed the baby room, got my hospital bag ready, organized our kitchen cabinets, the list goes on. I’m beyond thankful for her support and friendship (and for her quick text responses when I ask where everything is ;)) !
As we near the final stretch before baby’s arrival we are soaking up the moments as a duo as best we can!
See you soon baby!
