Top Things to do in Copenhagen

My top things to do when traveling to Copenhagen is hard too narrow! I’ve rounded up a short list of must-see, must eat and must do when traveling to Copenhagen.

Once I finally arrived in Copenhagen after a dramatic departure. Laura and I were ready to explore. Laura’s knowledge of the city and familiarity with the ‘local’ spots was a huge bonus as she navigated us through all of the streets. My number one tip when traveling to Copenhagen no matter the time of year is to rent a bike.

We rode our bikes everywhere. Including a day trip to Dragor, which was one of my favorite days in Denmark! The infrastructure was incredible for biking. The wide bike lanes in between the sidewalks and roads made you feel comfortable and slow, Danish bikers are speedy! Laura showed me the correct hand signals and off we went.

Thanks to friends who had visited previously we knew what to see and what to skip! Here are the top few recommendations:

Botanical Garden

Both inside and outside were well worth it. Everything was clearly labeled so the botanist in you is bound to sprout. See what I did there.

HAY House

Skip the design museum and head to HAY, an interior design store located in the main shopping district. This place was incredible and will inspire you to hone in your Scandinavian style.

Kongens Have at Rosenburg Castle

Your type-A self will thank you. With symmetrical tree-lined everywhere, this was a beautiful spot for photos and strolling around at your own pace.

Nyboder

If you’re going to travel to Copenhagen, you’re going to need to get a photo here. I’m not one for touristy things, but this is very cool.

The Marble Church

The gold detail lent itself for a beautiful photo opportunity, even on a gray day.

When you’re hungry…

  • Pluto: With a Michelin Rating we felt underdressed but were welcomed by the kind staff. We shared several small plates from the menu including the duck!

  • Sanchez: I didn't get a chance to eat here, but Clayton did on his last day of travel in CPH and hasn’t stopped talking about it.

  • The Living Room: Coolest Coffee Shop with major Hygge Vibes.

  • Sidecar: The best brunch spot in CPH! The pancakes are not only delicious but adorable.

  • Torvehallerne KBH: Glass ceiling and outdoor vendor spots, this is the place to eat. With fresh food, drinks, and a buzzing atmosphere, you don’t want to miss it.

  • Reffen: Trendy central. This was so awesome. Reffen is an outdoor food venue that has turned old shipping containers into the home of top-notch food and drink. The outdoor seating is unreal and it’s a place I could have gone back to every single night.

  • Bolton’s Food Court: Great food options with an incredible atmosphere. We stopped here to get a variety of eats and to stay warm on a cold fall afternoon.
